Shark Incidents uses primary authorities, scientific sources, specialist databases, and news reports. Each incident page identifies what each source supports.
Primary and scientific sources
Public marine-science agencies, fisheries bodies, and research institutions are used for definitions, aggregate statistics, and species context. Private detailed case databases are not scraped.
Specialist databases
Specialist shark incident databases may be used for reference and verification, but their material is not mirrored or commercially republished without permission.
News reports
News reports are used for discovery and corroboration. Full articles are not copied. Only factual metadata and short original summaries are stored.
Licensing
Images are used only under licenses that permit the site’s use, with attribution preserved. Editorial text is original to Shark Incidents.
