Shark Incidents by Country
Explore reviewed shark-human incident records by country and territory. Country pages combine an incident map, chronological record list, activity context, species-confidence data and links to the underlying sources.
A larger number of recorded incidents does not automatically mean a country is more dangerous. Coastline length, beach attendance, surfing and fishing activity, population, tourism, emergency reporting and historical documentation all affect the number of incidents that reach a database.
Only normalized countries and territories should appear here. Historical source phrases such as “between Portugal and India,” “Central Pacific” or “Gulf of Aden” belong to region or incident-level geography rather than being presented as countries.
Country pages should display:
- latest reviewed incidents;
- records by year;
- state/province/region breakdown where meaningful;
- activity distribution;
- outcome distribution;
- species-confidence breakdown, including unknown;
- source and methodology links;
- a clear “data through” date.
Countries with no reviewed public record should not be generated as empty SEO pages.
