Browse shark-human incident records chronologically. Each year page groups the reviewed records currently available in the Shark Incidents dataset and links every item to its source-backed detail page.

Recent years generally have better documentation than very old years. Historical totals can be affected by missing newspapers, incomplete location descriptions, changing terminology and uncertainty about whether an event involved a shark at all.

For that reason, year pages should answer what is documented in this dataset, not claim to measure the complete worldwide occurrence rate for that year.

Each year page should show:

• total reviewed public records in site scope;

• reported, corroborated and verified counts;

• classifications;

• fatal, non-fatal, no-injury and unknown outcomes;

• countries/regions represented;

• activity distribution;

• known versus unknown species identification;

• map and chronological list;

• links to previous/next year and the parent decade.
