This page collects public shark-human incident records whose event year is 1917. It provides a chronological list together with classification, outcome, activity and species-confidence context.

A year page describes what is documented in the public Shark Incidents dataset; it is not a claim that every worldwide incident from 1917 has been captured. Older years are particularly affected by missing newspapers, incomplete locations, changing terminology and uncertain species identification.

Each public incident is counted once. Verification status and incident classification remain separate, and ambiguous multi-record legacy URLs are handled as grouped pages rather than being forced into one incident.
