Volusia County Beach Safety said a surfer reported being bitten by a shark at New Smyrna Beach shortly after 11 a.m. on September 2, 2026. Responders found his right foot already bandaged. He declined additional medical treatment, and no shark species was identified.

A 40-year-old diver was reported injured by a shark about 30 nautical miles offshore of Pensacola on September 1, 2026. The U.S. Coast Guard coordinated the rescue and the diver was transported for hospital treatment. No shark species was identified.

A man suffered a serious lower-leg shark bite near Boca Grande Key, west of Key West, on August 23, 2026. The U.S. Coast Guard said he was in the water near a recreational vessel. He was transferred for hospital care. A later account identified the shark as a nurse shark, which should remain a Reported species identification.

A shark angler was bitten on the calf aboard a small vessel south of Ardmore, County Waterford, on August 11, 2026. The person said he had landed a blue shark when it lunged at his leg. Emergency services airlifted him to Cork University Hospital.
