Lemon shark

Slug: `/species/lemon-shark/` Scientific name: Negaprion brevirostris

The lemon shark is a coastal shark associated with warm shallow habitats including bays, mangrove-fringed areas and reef environments. Its yellow-brown coloration is part of the origin of its common name.

Lemon sharks are well studied in some nursery habitats. Their presence in shallow water can overlap with human recreation, but incident counts need the same evidence and exposure context applied to every species.
